Attention Members & CE Attendees:
We are aware of concerns AzVMA attendees may have about COVID-19 as more cases are reported in the state and across the country. AzVMA cares about the health and wellbeing of its members. As a result, the AzVMA is postponing all scheduled continuing education meetings through the end of April.

At this time, the Desert West Connection, scheduled for May 28-31, 2020 is still on the schedule. Decisions about this and future meetings will be made based on the guidance from state and federal authorities.

AzVMA is aware that this is a license renewal year and will make every effort to reschedule the postponed meetings to provide you with opportunities to fulfill your continuing education requirements. We will provide updates as they become available.

Alumni Program Overview

Exclusively offered to VHCTAz-member, Certificate Program - Manager Track Graduates

Alumni Reunion is designed to build on the foundation we have laid for exceptional veterinary teams. Join your fellow managers and dive deeper into the lessons of the Certificate Program. Examine the triumphs and struggles with other managers in a supportive and resolution-oriented environment. Discuss the successes of implementing the strategies and dealing with challenging experiences as you embarked on the journey of applying what you learned to the realities of everyday practice. The Alumni reunion is approved for 2 CE hours by the Arizona Academy of Veterinary Practice (for technicians) & 2 CVPM credits (for managers) by VHMA.

Attendees must be graduates of the Professional Veterinary Team Member Certificate Program and have a current membership to the Veterinary Health Care Team of Arizona. Registration is $40 for active VHCTAz members, or $76 to renew VHCTAz membership and register to attend.

Session Topics

  • A Healthy Work Environment, Is that too much to ask? Tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Wellbeing in MOTION!

Every day, we are bombarded with statistics of the challenges our profession, and people in general, face in wellbeing. It can be exhausting. What do you focus on? The challenges? The Solutions?

Solutions, of course! That brings us to moving the needle in a positive direction within a seemingly intangible concept of veterinary team wellbeing. What are our options?

Tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in revenue, client retention and client transactions is well known as a best business practice in evaluating your hospital’s health.  But what about evaluating and measuring veterinary team’s health and wellbeing? You can’t manage what you don’t measure.

After reviewing those “same old” KPIs, let’s pull them into the 21st century.  Attendees will define trends impacting work and life, outline the ideal, healthy work environment, discuss the benefits of an Employee Assistant Program and establish a SMART Goal for tracking a Team Wellbeing KPI.  Let’s move beyond we have a problem (high team turnover, burnout, compassion fatigue, and the list goes on) to Wellbeing in MOTION. We have solutions!

Attendee Outcomes

  • Identify trends in veterinary medicine impacting career and life, the good the bad and the ugly
  • Define a healthy work environment
  • Discuss the design of Key Performance
  • Indicators in Team Wellbeing
  • Complete a SMART Goal for a KPI in Team Wellbeing
