AzVMA Elects New Officers & Directors

AzVMA elected its officers for the 2020-2021 administrative year during its September board meeting. Serving as president is Melissa Riensche, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), of Desert Veterinary Medical Specialists in Gilbert. The president-elect is Kara Thomas, DVM, of Midwestern University Companion Animal Clinic in Glendale. Kaylee Yoshimoto, DVM, of Happy Valley Animal Hospital in Glendale will serve as vice president, and Racheal McKinney, DVM, of Urban Livestock & Equine Veterinary Services in Mesa, is secretary/treasurer. Al Schleappe, DVM, of Caring Hearts Animal Clinic in Gilbertis the immediate past president.
AzVMA welcomed two new directors elected by the members in their districts for three-year terms. Karyn Wesley, DVM, of Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson, will represent the Tucson District, and Lisa Schnier, DVM, of Banfield Pet Hospital will represent the Maricopa District. Re-elected to three-year terms were Christina Tran, DVM, of Blue Sky Veterinary Care, LLC, and Tara-lyn Temple, DVM, Animal Care Hospital in Phoenix. Both are representatives of the Maricopa District.
AzVMA also honored retiring directors who have completed their terms of office. They include Julie Moentk, DVM, of 1st Pet Veterinary Centers in Chandler, Andre Tarassov, DVM, and J. Charlie Deutsch, of Tucson.
