As promised, the AVMA has updated their FAQ document here: https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/animal-health-and-welfare/animal-travel-and-transport/new-cdc-dog-importation-requirements-faqs-veterinarians.
The following was also provided to the AVMA HOD:
– The CDC has recently updated their regulations related to bringing dogs into the US. Most updates are related to dogs coming in from canine rabies-free or low-risk countries, although there were also some updates to requirements for high-risk documentation as well.
– You can find our news story here: https://www.avma.org/news/cdc-announces-changes-us-canine-import-requirements.
– And the CDC page here: https://www.cdc.gov/importation/dogs/rabies-free-low-risk-countries.html.
– Important to remember is that dog imports are also subject to USDA requirements as well. You will find those here: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/pet-travel/another-country-to-us-import/dogs.
