Veterinary Health Care Team of Arizona

Formed in 2003, the Veterinary Health Care Team of Arizona (VHCTAz) is a professional community for every member of the veterinary practice team. This is a unique opportunity to belong to your own professional group that is focused on you and your practice team. It provides you with the tools you need for your personal and professional development, while promoting and supporting the important role of the entire team in patient and client care.

Assistants, client service representatives, educators, kennel staff, managers, technicians, and students enrolled in veterinary technology programs can, through active involvement, bring renewed energy to the practice through a renewed commitment to teamwork. Experienced and new team members can benefit from the resources that help build cohesive and highly functioning teams that produce a harmonious work environment, greater job satisfaction, and team spirit. Along with that comes the recognition you and your team deserve.

Young Leaders Advisory Council

Young Leaders Advisory Council (YLAC) develops programs and services to help current students of veterinary medicine and recent veterinary graduates with the challenges of starting out in practice and provides opportunities for them to get involved in association activities and projects. To join the Young Leaders Advisory Council (YLAC) please complete our online form.

YLAC is responsible for the administering of AzVMA’s mentorship program. AzVMA has partnered with the Colleges of Veterinary Medicine at Midwestern University (MWU) and University of Arizona (UA) to pair veterinarians with veterinary students based on their similar field of interest. This program has been created to offer students guidance through their veterinary program and into their field of study. For additional information email membership@azvma.org

YLAC conducts outreach to the public about the importance of regular veterinary care for pets. Volunteers distribute Pet Resource Directories at community fairs and events. Directories contain AzVMA member-hospitals & clinics, information on emergency & mobile clinics, frequently asked questions & answers about basic animal care, and Arizona-specific diseases & conditions.

We understand that your time as veterinary students and first years as a veterinarian come with excitement and challenges. We want to be right beside you with all the help and support you need to get started. We are excited to welcome you into your community of professionals and help you take charge of your career! Here are some resources to assist you as you get started in your career.

Each year, the Young Leaders Advisory Council (YLAC) recognizes veterinary students and new licensees for their dedication to excelling and bettering the veterinary community. We invite you to nominate your colleagues for these awards and join us in honoring them for their contributions.
