YLAC is responsible for the administering of AzVMA’s mentorship program. AzVMA has partnered with Midwestern University (MWU) & University of Arizona (UA). This program has been created to offer students guidance through their veterinary program and into their field of study. For additional information email membership@azvma.org.
Enlisting the feedback of students, we provide continuing education workshops in an effort to assist in preparing them for their careers. Additionally, student members receive a discounted rate to participate in all association continuing education offerings.
YLAC conducts outreach to the public about the importance of regular veterinary care for pets. Volunteers distribute Pet Resource Directories at community fairs and events. The directory contains AzVMA member-hospitals & clinics and information on emergency & mobile clinics, as well as frequently asked questions and answers about basic animal care and Arizona-specific diseases and conditions.
Have a question about student membership that we didn’t answer? The answer to your question might be on our FAQ page. If not, email us at membership@azvma.org, or by calling our office 602-242-7936.
The Arizona Veterinary Medical Foundation (AzVMF) is thrilled to announce the awarding of eight $1,000 scholarships to outstanding veterinary students nationwide! These scholarships, aimed at nurturing the future leaders of veterinary medicine, were distributed among various AVMA-accredited colleges.
To qualify for these scholarships, applicants had to be in their second or third year of veterinary school and have ties to Arizona. They were evaluated on their financial need, academic prowess, involvement in organized veterinary medicine, and their vision for their future in the veterinary field.

In 2019, the AzVMA relaunched its foundation initially focusing to provide scholarships for Arizona veterinary students enrolled in an AVMA accredited college of veterinary medicine to help offset the cost of a veterinary medical education. Each year the Arizona Veterinary Medical Foundation (AzVMF) presents scholarships to veterinary students in need of financial assistance, with the intent of expanding its services to include disaster relief and other veterinary needs.
Young Leaders Advisory Council (YLAC) develops programs and services to help current students of veterinary medicine and recent veterinary graduates with the challenges of starting out in practice and provides opportunities for them to get involved in association activities and projects.
